The Creative Directive

Zach Raley is a young contemporary fine artist based in Needham, Massachusetts, and a regular exhibitor in Newport, Rhode Island, where he is represented by CUSP Gallery. Working on larger-than-life canvases, Raley utilizes a signature, self-developed epoxy resin technique combined with classical oils to create pieces that act as structural mirrors to the complexity of human emotion. His work is born from a culmination of personal memories, childhood innocence, and sensory experiences, while directly confronting universal themes of humanity, struggle, and nostalgia. This deep focus on personal and collective history aligns with the traditional Ghanaian philosophy of Sankofa, which emphasizes the vital importance of honoring and learning from the past to build the future. This principle shapes both his studio practice and his international initiatives, leading him to co-found the Sankofa Vision Alliance to foster cultural unity and sustainable development through community-driven public art. Over the next twelve months, Raley will focus exclusively on his practice during an ambitious international journey across North America, Africa, and Europe. Operating as an active residency, this global immersion will allow him to begin his next body of work directly on location, capturing the atmospheric essence of each continent before completing the pieces in his home studio. To complement this visual exploration, Raley is expanding into filmmaking, using the cinematic medium to document his global travels and capture the live evolution of his upcoming collection.
